Can't Get You Out of My Head is Curtis's sprawling emotional history of how we ended up anxious, individualist and stuck, and episode two digs into the wreckage of the 1960s revolutions. I love that he tells it through obscure, forgotten people rather than the usual names. It is long, strange and occasionally maddening. But nobody else is building arguments this ambitious out of archive footage and a synth score.

In the second episode of his sweeping series, Adam Curtis explores what tore apart the revolutions of the 1960s. Weaving together figures such as Jiang Qing in China, Michael X in London, and Afeni Shakur in New York, he traces how the dream of transforming the world collided with power, paranoia, and disillusion. The film assembles archive footage into a hypnotic emotional history. Ambitious and unsettling, it is classic Curtis. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
