Picture the most powerful government on Earth completely losing the plot over one guy stuck in an airport. That is the spectacle here: Edward Snowden, the contractor who blew the whistle on the NSA's global surveillance machine in 2013, marooned in a Moscow transit lounge while Washington threw everything it had at dragging him home. My favorite detail is the afternoon several countries forced down a Bolivian president's plane on a rumor Snowden might be aboard.
