MK Ultra: The CIA's Secret LSD Experiments

High-level CIA officials authorized testing of drugs, including LSD, on unwitting Americans. Vulnerable populations, such as prostitutes, drug addicts, and others on society's fringes, were targeted to ensure minimal retaliation. Many participants in the program admitted knowing they were crossing ethical boundaries but proceeded due to secrecy and operational goals. Efforts were made to keep the programs hidden, even from internal oversight.
