Japan: The Ancient Nation That Created the Samurai - Odyssey

Editor's Take

Reaching back to Japan's earliest settlement, this Odyssey production traces the origins of the nation and the warrior culture that came to define it. It follows the rise of the warlords whose contests produced the samurai and the country they defended. Expert commentary and period visuals carry a history that is otherwise thinly documented. The scope is broad, and the treatment introductory rather than specialist.
