Rite of Passage: Kazakh Nomads Living With Eagles
In the Altai valley of Mongolia, Sheik Pawli, a renowned eagle-master, struggles to keep his reindeer herd. alive from hungry wolves. This is the tale of Kazakh nomads and their relationship to golden eagles which they capture from high cliffs and train to hunt. Through the relationship of uncle and nephew we see how eagle training is not just a question of practical knowledge, but is also connected to how the Kazakh’s remember their ancestors and transmit their tales of love and chivalry.
