The Space Shuttle Program: How NASA Made Reusable Spacecraft
In the early days of space flight, astronauts of the Apollo program would fly to space and return in crafts that were virtually useless afterwards. Due to the astronomical cost of the space program, the US government sanctioned NASA to begin research into a method of space flight that could be reused in future Apollo missions.
