In August 2000, the Kursk, a massive Oscar-II class nuclear submarine and the pride of the Russian Northern Fleet, suffered a catastrophic explosion and settled 108 meters deep in the freezing Barents Sea. With 118 lives lost and the eyes of the world on the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin turned to an unlikely duo: two Dutch brothers with no prior salvage experience.
